Bill Romanis established Rural Projects in 1998. Under his management the business rapidly expanded and since then has proved capable of delivering small exhibitions for only a few hundred people through to national events attracting hundreds of exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors. At Rural Projects we are committed to constantly improving the service we offer, developing the events we are responsible for and seeking new innovations and opportunities. Meet our dedicated events team
Martin Dare
Managing Director
Martin joined Rural Projects in 2000 with a background in Human Resource Management. His HR career was primarily focused on employee recognition schemes involving a strong organisational role and so a move to the events industry was a logical progression. Martin has overall responsibility for each of Rural Projects’ events.
Lynsey Boyd
Events Development Manager
Lynsey joined the team in July 2010 having graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a Masters degree in Marketing. Lynsey is involved with all aspects of Rural Projects’ portfolio of events but has particular responsibility for the marketing and promotion of Gardening Scotland.
Charlotte Morgan
Events Co-ordinator
Charlotte joined the business in February 2009. Charlotte graduated in 2008 with a Business Management and Marketing Degree. Charlotte is involved in all aspects of the Rural Projects’ event portfolio but has the lead role for the business’ Royal Highland Show contract.
Shona Muir
Events Administrator
Shona joined the team in a part-time capacity in 2010 but had previously gained up experience working at Gardening Scotland and AgriScot on a temporary basis over several years. Shona has a wide remit and provides administrative support across all events. She can be contacted about invoicing or accounts queries.
John MacInnes
AgriScot Trade Stand Manager
John worked with Rural Projects as a full time member of the team between 2001 and 2006. John then returned to manage the family farm on Iona but continues to work with the team on a consultancy basis. John is the AgriScot Trade Stand Manager and can help with any enquiries relating to the event.
Alison Jermyn
Gardening Scotland & Ayr Flower Show Trade Stand Manager
Alison has a strong business background. Like her husband Jim, she also been involved with Gardening Scotland from the outset and has proved herself adept at accommodating exhibitors’ requirements at both Gardening Scotland and Ayr Flower Show. Any enquiries relating to exhibiting at Scotland’s premier horticultural events should be directed to Alison.
Jim Jermyn
Horticultural Consultant
Jim has had a long career in the horticultural industry and as well as being a world-renowned Alpine expert he has also operated a successful nursery exhibiting at the very highest level. Jim has been involved with Gardening Scotland since its inception and continues to be responsible for all matters relating to horticulture at Gardening Scotland and Ayr Flower Show.
Heather Burnside
Finance & Accounts
Heather from Accounts and Taxation Services is Rural Projects’ Accountant. Heather has worked with the team for over 10 years and as well as providing sound financial advice for the company and its events she also masterminds the cash handling and gate management processes for Gardening Scotland.
Topher
Operations
Topher, or ‘Danish’ as he is also known by the team, is Rural Projects’ on site ‘fixer.’ Possessing great resourcefulness and ingenuity he is a well known face at AgriScot and Gardening Scotland and has proved an extremely valuable asset in the build up and breakdown of events.
